Swords and Sandals 2 is a very simple game, and has a fairly easy learning curve. The graphics are attractive enough for a flash game, yet not very real (It’s a flash game, what’d you expect?) and it does a good job of keeping you interested enough to keep wasting time. The only catch however, is that the entire game is just a very easy pyramid, which just loops over and over, but if this can keep you from doing other games to waste time such as five-finger fillet, then by all means Swords and Sandals 2 is a good choice.

When you start the game you can either create a character, or the flash automatically loads a character for you. You can then spend your 9 beginning stat points in skills of your choosing, which affect your skills later on, naturally. After you’ve gone through all this, you can begin the game, which starts off with your character as a slave, who must win a fight against an old man. Once you’ve defeated the old man, you’re granted freedom to the area where you spend the rest of the game, which is just a town with an arena, and various weapon shops for different classes, and an armor shop.

The game is played in “days,” which have a nightfall and morning, and so on. At the end of each day you are granted a choice whether to spend the night in an inn (For some gold of course) or braving it on the streets (Which risks having gold stolen), and if you haven’t got enough cash by defacto you are stuck on the streets. Aside from that, each day also has a respective title, usually referring to an event which is supposed to occur that day.

The prime parts of the game circulate around the arena, where you’ll end up dueling for several levels until you can enter tournaments. The only downside is that until you’re a certain level you can only do duels, and duels are first blood fights, meaning it’s very easy to lose, and when you lose you also have a bit of gold deducted from your stockpile depending on your level. The higher you are, the more money you lose, but also the more money you win. Once you get to a certain level however, you can enter a tournament, which gives you a lot more money for winning, but if you lose you die rather than lose money.
